Charlottesville Opera seeks 4-8 singers with classical training for its education outreach program in Charlottesville, Virginia. Singers for this program will perform in an educational opera initiative at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Virginia. The program engages students in rewriting the libretto for popular operatic arias to tell an original story. Singers chosen for this initiative will learn and perform those arias for a staged performance at the Boys and Girls Clubs.
This is a paid opportunity.
Performers will have the option to stay in Charlottesville at a housing homestay during rehearsal and performance weeks.
Must be available for all rehearsals and performances. All are in Charlottesville. March 14, Rehearsals to be Scheduled (will work with artist schedules) March 15, 4:30pm - 6:30pm March 17, 3:45pm - 5:45pm March 22, 4:30pm - 6:30pm March 24, 3:45pm - 5:45pm
This opportunity is open to singers from the Greater Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, and Richmond areas. Singers are responsible for their own transportation.
Singers must offer one operatic aria and perform it from memory. An accompanist will be provided, please bring a paper copy of your music to the audition.
